Norco May 2024 Fishing Derby – #2

Norco’s second fishing derby of the season was full of action from start to finish. Weather was best of the year, sunny, warmed up enough to take the jackets off by noon. Everyone had several fish to take home. Most rainbows were 11-13 1/2″ in length that made it to the measuring table.

This derby’s winners: Youth first – Avery ; Youth largest – Mashal ; Adult first – Ed S. ; Adult largest – a tie with Krissy and Mike at 13″ 3/4″ . All youth had a trip to the lure and tackle table.

The killer lure of the day was a small silver fox on Ed’s rod/reel. If you took a few casts, you had a fish to reel in.  When the fish arrived 3 days earlier, they were jumping out of the delivery truck – very active. Stocked 200 fish, mix of rainbows and brookies.  They were breaking the pond surface often over the days and throughout the derby. Ed had his creel limit before anyone could finish a coffee and donut.

The derby volunteers included Fish Committee chair Charlie, Krissy, Tommy, Donnie, Ed, Bill, Rudy, Mike, Wayne – for stocking, setup, cooking, and cleanup. Pictures – thanks to Tina, Ed B., and Wayne.
